SURGEDOME Introduces Its Own Web Push Notification Infrastructure
SURGEDOME, the editorial publishing platform developed by SurgeZirc Media, is expanding the way digital publications can connect with their audiences with the introduction of its own integrated Web Push Notification infrastructure.
The new capability is designed to give publications powered by SURGEDOME a direct way to notify opted-in readers when important new content is published—without relying on a separate third-party publishing platform for the notification workflow.
Built into the SURGEDOME publishing architecture, the system combines browser-based subscriptions, publication-level controls, Redis-backed event processing and a dedicated push worker. This allows notifications to be handled independently from the main editorial application while maintaining publication-specific ownership and delivery controls.
Web Push is being introduced as a publication-level feature, meaning each SURGEDOME publication can control whether push notifications are enabled for its audience. Readers remain in control of their subscriptions and browser permissions.
The architecture also separates publication ownership, subscriber records and notification delivery, allowing SURGEDOME to support multiple publications without treating their audiences as one shared pool.
